Yet, I was thinkin in that image of a human body as seen by the Flatlander. Hmmm... looks like a tomography or something like human body being sliced... Why would a Flatlander see that? The only way I have , being a 3D creature, to let whomever from 2D universe to have an idea of who I am, is projecting a slide or film of myself onto the paper or flat canvas he dwells or maybe gluing a 2D flat photograph of myself. I don't need to give him details of my internal structure, that is bones, muscles, tissues, veins, arteries.... as if I could pass through the paper. Hence, the author who gives that idea is assuming we, as 3D creatures, could pass through the paper like that. It's a possibility we have not achieved yet. Meanwhile, just guess the exterior image. For example a fingertip stain on the flat canvas instead of the finger or inner structure of the finger; a moving eliptical or circular shadow instead of a ball moving on the paper and so on....
