The idea that Lorentz symmetry may only be accurate in our cool cosmos gives an interesting premise for:

1. FTL (faster than light)
2. An explanation for dark matter
3. Unifying relativity and QM

Mark my words. Relativity is a fragile theory and will ultimately prove to be a special case, just as Newtonian mechanics is the special case at slow speeds and macroscopic scales.
