I heard about this years ago.
And since we're talking programmed reality, no topic is off topic.

This post reminds me of one of my favourite episodes of dark ages history - that of the "Cadaver Synod" (896 or 897), when one Pope dug up another, tried him (well, his corpse!), found him guilty, then reburied him!!

Oh that's priceless. For some reason, I was always entertained by stories of medeival papal deaths. I read somewhere that one died from swallowing a wasp. Here's an excerpt from a paper on papal deaths (http://ajol.info/index.php/actat/article/view/52576/41182)

Quote:
After a disagreement
with the Byzantine emperor, Martin I was arrested, scourged and exiled.
He died in 653 on the Crimean peninsula, of a combination of abuse,
starvation and exposure. In 882 John VIII became the first papal victim
of murder, when some of his staff first poisoned him and then beat him
to death with cudgels. Hadrian III (885), Benedict IV (903), and Ser-
gius IV (1012) were also probably murdered by their enemies. The un-
balanced Steven VI was strangled in 896 during a prison riot, while
Leo V was murdered in jail by an anti-pope in 903 after reigning for
only a month. After a successful reign of fourteen years, John X died in
928 when dissatisfied members of the aristocracy suffocated him with
a cushion. Steven IX, who had been raised to the seat of Peter by mem-
bers of the aristocracy, was arrested in 942 by the same group and so
severely tortured in prison that he died of his injuries. Benedict VI was
strangled in jail in 974 on the instructions of an anti-pope. Boniface
VII was responsible for the imprisonment of John XIV, who died in
jail in 984 of exposure and possibly poisoning.

Seems like it was a rather dangerous position in those day. Think

Being raised a Christian, I've never much cared for Catholicism, or organized religion in general. Catholicism is less about spirituality and more about politics. I think the institution was corrupted early on.
Of course being raised Christian, and being interested in spirituality at a young age has led me to where I'm at today, where I say I'm "A Judeo-Christian Hindu Buddhist Native American Shaman with much interest in Science."

I was just looking at some old posts and came across this interesting one.

I believe that what may be generating evil (or the devil) in the world could be corrupt programs (information) running in the simulation. Evil just like everything else could be information. I made a thread about this months ago.

If we ever discovered the origin of these corrupt programs could we in theory switch them off and end all evil. For example, if these corrupt programs are being beamed out across space to us via a transmitter on (let's say) Phobos; and if we ever reach Phobos and destroy this monolith (transmitter) then this would end all evil on Earth. This is only a hypothesis of course. ;o)

I do have some strange ideas don't I.

Not strange at all! I think one of the things that sets apart folks on this forum from others is imagination (we have it)

There has been a lot said in philosophy about good vs. evil being all relative. If you take away the most evil things, then we have a new frame of reference for evil; a new spectrum on which to place evil and good.

Yesterday's good and evil may differ from today's.

Different culture's good and evil differs.

Without the bad, one can not appreciate the good. If everything smelled like flowers, would we appreciate a rose?

and so on...
