Yes, very interesting. Brought to mind two things. First. Ethics. Second. A joke.
The father of 'Remote Viewing', Ingo Swann wrote the book;
Starfire. Two weapons systems. Solar energy captured and beamed via microwaves transmitted to receivers in, I believe, Antarctica, was turned on the populace. The other side, Russians, had slices of conscious human brains in multiple missile satellite control computers. The protagonist was finally able to psychically connect to these disembodied intelligences and discovered the horror of their situation.
Your comment about the spoon brought the following joke to mind.
At the restaurant, preparing to order, the gentleman noticed a spoon in the waiters pocket. And that all the waiters had a spoon in their pockets. Asking the waiter what was the spoon in the pockets all about the waiter replied, "The management is on an efficiency kick and by carrying a spoon we can instantly provide a replacement when a diner drops his. This saves time as we can replace the dropped spoon on a planned trip to the kitchen."
The gentle thought this was a good idea and said, " But I also notice a little string hanging out of your fly. What's that all about?" The waiter graciously responded, "Very observant of you. Few people notice. In the interest of efficiency, management has come up with the string as the answer to time lost in washing hands in the bathroom. With the string we don't have to touch the penis when removing it to urinate." The puzzled diner asked, "But how do you put it back in?" Looking around the dining room before replying the waiter answered, "I don't know about the other guys, but I use the spoon."
Is that what your spoon reference was about?
The most merciful thing in the world ... is the inability of the human mind to correlate all its contents... The sciences, each straining in its own direction, have hitherto harmed us little; but someday the piecing together of dissociated knowledge will open up such terrifying vistas of reality... That we shall either go mad from the revelation or flee from the deadly light into the peace and safety of a new dark age. - H. P. Lovecraft
