Interesting article. My brother was recently hospitalized and initially they thought he had a pancreatic infection but it
turns out he has cirrhosis of the liver. If that wasn't shocking enough we discovered he has been drinking for quite a
long time and we weren't aware of it. As you know the liver is about the only organ that can regenerate itself and we
can only pray that he doesn't drink anymore. Sadly, my brother is only in his mid 40's. I think we need more liver
research in this country, I suspect liver failure is more rampant than we believe.

I'm sorry to hear that, LadyBe, I hope that your brother makes a quick recovery. A friend of my sister's brother, in his 40's also, was secretly drinking heavily after his marriage broke up. Apparantly his family didn't realise how serious things had gotten until he was hospitalised. Unfortunately he died as a result. The liver is a resiliant organ, but you mess with spirits at your peril.

There is no spoon.
