I'd bet against any big announcement in the near future. I don't even know why we are looking to be honest. I've talked with Seth Shostak about this before, I just don't feel it's right that we are even looking. What are we going to do if we actually do find something? It would be like knocking on a door we are not welcome to enter. We are not ready, not even close, and whatever is out there doesn't want anything to do with us in the sense of open relations.

Earth trying to contact aliens would be akin to our crackhead friend knocking on our door at 1AM begging for money. Aliens don't want that type of relationship. It might sound unfair because there are a lot of smart people on earth, many people who COULD handle alien life being a fact, but unfortunately we are judged as a whole planet, not judged by the few who think they can represent all of us. The rich can turn a blind eye to the poverty here, but something looking down from above wont be so naive.
