while a very entertaining thought, why would anyone use a machine that expensive to defrost a pizza?

they wouldn't. i think it is just showing how powerful the LHC can be. that said, i wouldn't put it past some physicists to throw a frozen pizza in front of a particle beam. isn't that how real discoveries are made? by attempting the unthinkable? Angel

Urban legend myth buster.

Hate to be a kill joy, but when you heat things up too quickly, the thing itself may be the limiting factor, not just the amount of wattage you can deliver.

Don't any of you ever remember blowing things up in the microwave oven.
