I go through several emotions, some I'm not articulate enough to explain to you. When Jimbo screams out...Cancel my subscription to the ressurection....again I feel something I can't really explain. Where am I leading with this? Why do we respond to music the way we do? From what I understand scientist have no idea why we like music. Gimme some of your favorite musical highlights...a point in a song that makes a shiver run down your spine or drives you to your knees. I love all music. Franz Listz Hungarian Rhapsody no. 2 knocks me out as well as Chopin's Polanise (Sp?) I like some John Denver, how many of you have the guts to admit to that...LOL. I used to be closed minded towards certain types of music because I was afraid of what people would think about me....how silly, love it all there is some great stuff in all musical forms, hell I like me some good ol' Merle Haggard now since I quit trying to be cool and started to appreciate music on its own merits not on how it is preceived. "We don't smoke marajuana in Muskogee, We don't take no trips on LSD. We still wave ol' glory down at the courthouse and white lighting still the biggest thrill of all" Don't agree with the politics but its a great song... stay open minded to music y'all

I don't care what genre, it's all about the hook.

A couple of my favorite musical highlights:
The intro guitar riff from 'Alice Said' by Screaming Trees, or the bass in 'Bed Of Roses' also by Screaming Trees. Why? It got a cool hook, that's all I can say.

Manson's Terror Cult album was recorded on September 11, 1967.

Somehow Charles Manson & his dark energy tried to cross paths with The Beatles & The Beach Boys, he is the epitome of the dark side of the force.
Thus, the program runs the full spectrum of + & - intent.
The #911 connects to so many key moments in time.

You might be interested in the work of Theodore Adorno. He wrote volumes on that very subject, although it's not easy reading. Highly intellectual stuff. Some believe he wrote the Beatles music as he owned the rights to their songs while they were together and Paul admitted that he doesn't know how to write music.

I just wanted to post this link here on account of the bit about music:
http://www.newscientist.com/article/mg20827801.300-mental-muscle-six-ways-to-boost-your-brain.html?full=true

I thought it odd that as I was reading this article I was eating dinner,
fish and broccoli.

I can't believe it has taken me so long to respond to this!

Beethoven's 9th, especially the beginning of the 2nd movement and much of the 4th
Muse - On the Absolution CD, when "Hysteria" starts
Beatles - "Day in the Life"
The Who - When Roger Daltry screams at the end of "Won't Get Fooled Again"
Nine Inch Nails - "Right Where it Belongs"
Eminem - "Haille's Song"
