But vain the Sword and vain the BowThey can never Work War’s overthrow.
The Hermit’s Prayer and the Widow’s Tear
Alone can free the World from fear.

For a Tear is an Intellectual Thing
And a Sigh is the Sword of an Angel King
And the bitter groan of a Martyr’s woe
Is an Arrow from the Almightie’s Bow

The hand of Vengeance found the Bed
To which the Purple Tyrant fled.
The iron hand crushed the Tyrant’s head
And became a Tyrant in his stead.

Therefore take heed how you impawn our person,
How you awake our sleeping sword of war.
 We charge you, in the name of God, take heed;
For never two such kingdoms did contend
Without much fall of blood, whose guiltless drops
Are every one a woe, a sore complaint
'Gainst him whose wrongs gives edge unto the swords
That makes such waste in brief mortality.

 "Grey Monk" by William Blake

Bump Urban Dictionary gives this definition to "Poe's Law" "Without a winking smiley or other blatant display of humor, it is impossible to create a parody of Fundamentalism that SOMEONE won't mistake for the real thing." Kind of explains the whole wackiness behind the popular Comedy Central Show Stephen Colbert's -- Colbert Report. Some of the wackiness and outright "Dangers" of Religous Fundamentalism are well chronicaled in Religulous |

Quote:For a Tear is an Intellectual Thing I love that line, for some reason. So, jdlaw, what's inspiring you on this thread?

This world is a very important program in our own path towards sentience. Mankind is certainly in a fallen state. Yet, as we learn more about the electro-magnetic microwaves, infrared, ultraviolet light, X-rays, gamma-rays, and others -- it increases our ability for the world broadcast communications -- and in-turn diminishes our needs for war.
