But vain the Sword and vain the Bow They can never Work War’s overthrow. The Hermit’s Prayer and the Widow’s Tear Alone can free the World from fear. For a Tear is an Intellectual Thing And a Sigh is the Sword of an Angel King And the bitter groan of a Martyr’s woe Is an Arrow from the Almightie’s Bow The hand of Vengeance found the Bed To which the Purple Tyrant fled. The iron hand crushed the Tyrant’s head And became a Tyrant in his stead. Therefore take heed how you impawn our person, How you awake our sleeping sword of war. We charge you, in the name of God, take heed; For never two such kingdoms did contend Without much fall of blood, whose guiltless drops Are every one a woe, a sore complaint 'Gainst him whose wrongs gives edge unto the swords That makes such waste in brief mortality.

Bump Urban Dictionary gives this definition to "Poe's Law" "Without a winking smiley or other blatant display of humor, it is impossible to create a parody of Fundamentalism that SOMEONE won't mistake for the real thing." Kind of explains the whole wackiness behind the popular Comedy Central Show Stephen Colbert's -- Colbert Report. Some of the wackiness and outright "Dangers" of Religous Fundamentalism are well chronicaled in Religulous

Quote:For a Tear is an Intellectual Thing I love that line, for some reason. So, jdlaw, what's inspiring you on this thread?

Quote:The iron hand crushed the Tyrant’s head And became a Tyrant in his stead. This world is a very important program in our own path towards sentience. Mankind is certainly in a fallen state. Yet, as we learn more about the electro-magnetic microwaves, infrared, ultraviolet light, X-rays, gamma-rays, and others -- it increases our ability for the world broadcast communications -- and in-turn diminishes our needs for war.
