This is one of my very favorite postings (by "Bot"-tee-licious) on TheUniverseSolved.com forum: An I-Ching AnecDote at TheUniverseSolved.com forumHere is an article that relates Terence McKenna's Time Wave Zero theory of novelty in the unfolding of human history to the I-Ching: Terence McKenna's Time Wave Theory

Aw, thanks for the compliment RogerV. Much appreciated.
A word of caution though. You have to approach the I-Ching with the utmost respect. The I-Ching should never be tested; if you don't take it seriously it will never work. I should never have interfered with the Oracle, but in this particular instance it did pay off. I just got lucky. Perhaps the Oracle wanted to acknowledge its role as my trusted companion by delivering the correct Hexagram, otherwise, I was in danger of losing face.
Carl Jung once said, " The I-Ching does not offer itself with proof and results; it does not vaunt itself, nor is it easy to approach. Like a part of nature, it waits until it is discovered".
So to all intents and purposes, it is saying, yes, it waits to be discovered; it wants to be discovered; but, you had better put your best foot forward when approaching it, else you will risk a rebuke. This is exactly what happened to the mocker in this particular case!
Cheers.
