I bought a 'lucid dreaming device' years ago - you wear it over your eyes, and when you are in REM sleep for a while lights flash & sound emits, both at low levels. The idea is that you get conditioned to associate the lights/sounds when you notice them in your dream to the device, and realise that you're dreaming - something like that. Alas, I used to wake up with the lights. In fairness though I don't think that I gave it a decent try. Who knows, I might dig it out of the attic one of these days..

There is no spoon.

I never put too much in all that.
I always thought that in order to experience a lucid dream you had to just tell yourself that you would. But like I said. I've only had this experience three times, which would make it very rare.

My own personal experience is that mastering ones own mind, and thought, is way easier said than done. Although I find it easy to "clear my mind", I don't know if that's good or bad. Think

It seems in these days of the "economic recovery', I have less time for meditation, and more time for confusion. And I refer to "economic recovery" with alot of sarcasm, so far it seems to mean "work harder, and longer hours, for less."

No matter, I'll soon have more time for meditation.

I'm sure you already know that the first step to lucid dreaming is to improve dream recall.

And my own experience is that extended periods of sobriety, and total avoidance of specific substances, seems to help with this.
That may explain my own difficulties with all of this lately. d'oh!
