Crap, I turned 11 in 77. All the technology we had back then was pong! We didn't even have Atari yet! Interesting video. It had me thinking about Pythagoras. Second and maybe third hand accounts seem to say Pythagoras said numbers and math were a fundamental force of nature. To my way of thinking that's not far from saying information is a fundamental force of nature, and it's not a big leap from there to say, "computer programmed reality."

We didn't have Atari yet, but dentists did hand out sodium pentathol as a pain killer. So, we had that going for us.

PKD was able to tap into so many things throughout his life. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jXeVgEs4sOo&feature=relatedI consider PKD to be the American equivalent of Jules Verne. http://www.philipkdick.com/aa_intro-fr.htmlPKD was born a century after JV & was able to see so many things that had become reality since JVs time. JV lived long enough to see a movie about people traveling to the moon. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Le_Voyage_dans_la_LunePKD could see the actual lunar landing on TV & lived long enough to see the start of the STS era. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Space_Shuttle (STS) PKD died in the month of March, as did JV. http://www.philipkdick.com/works_novels.htmlIf PKD had lived into his 70s, he might have had as many published novels as JV. JV lived long enough to see how the telephone was becoming a common thing. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Original-Early-French-wall-phone-c1905-w-Adar-receiver-/370438747280PKD lived long enough to see the dawn of the cell phone & the laptop computer. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Advanced_Mobile_Phone_Systemhttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_laptops#Osborne_1 So would an octogenarian PKD be impressed with a pocket computer known as the iPhone? http://www.intomobile.com/2010/05/11/apple-fires-back-about-android-sales-reports/Perhaps, but he was looking far beyond anything like a conventional smart phone. http://www.smartplanet.com/technology/blog/thinking-tech/how-recorded-futures-prediction-machine-works/3524/By the mid 1950s, PKD realized something that today might be called a Quantum Search Engine. http://www.philipkdick.com/films_minreport.htmlhttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Minority_Reporthttp://www.boston.com/business/technology/innoeco/2010/02/recorded_future_its_like_googl.htmlhttp://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2010/09/100921171349.htmUsing something like a Temporal Web Browser, one could skip a head to see various probable moments in the local future. http://www.wikinomics.com/blog/index.php/2008/07/07/google-earth-in-the-third-dimension/http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:John_Underkoffler,_TED_2010.jpg Scanning & glimpsing distant future times could reveal plenty of unrecognizable things. Of course if time & space is part of a vast interactive recording & program, then one could also look into key moments in the local & distant past. http://www.imdb.com/media/rm119901184/tt0181689http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Able_Dangerhttp://www.onion-router.net/http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bing_(search_engine)#Windows_Live_Search A big info-dilemma remains for humanity, unless one is a natural psychic, or a remote viewer, Temporal Web Browsing will be off limits to the general public. However, some people will still try to develop their own Temporal Web Server & hack into the universe to reveal plenty of mysteries & secrets. http://whatismyipaddress.com/web-serverhttp://www.torproject.org/overview.html.enhttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Remote_viewinghttp://fusionanomaly.net/terencemckenna.html http://www.coasttocoastam.com/guest/mckenna-terence/6286 http://fusionanomaly.net/timewavezero.html http://www.coasttocoastam.com/guest/mckenna-dennis/6015 http://www.coasttocoastam.com/guest/high-clif/39980 http://www.coasttocoastam.com/guest/guercio-paul/6206http://www.philipkdick.com/new_intro.htmlhttp://www.philipkdick.com/films_intro.htmlhttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Philip_K._Dickhttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jules_Vernehttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nonlocality

PKD was great. I read Valis and I was very disappointed. It's so sad when the great thinkers try and figure out a way to slip religion in and it destroys where they could end up. It was an interesting story, though, but I wish he could have separated the Christianity from his own thoughts.
