Also, Ray Kurzweil talks about mind sharing/merging in the future. Don't humans already possess this ability- telepathy? There's another phenomenon- clairsentience (something I might have myself).
I like where you going with possibly easier ways already in place. Hypnosis was a great example.
Telepathy I think everyone has, but most are not aware of it, or just have never worked that muscle. And like most muscles that aren't work they tend to decay.
Personally when I read this article I can't help but think of problems that might pop up. Right off the bat, lets say we start loading into someone all this information. There is only so much that can be thought about or used at any given time. Our brains already do a great job of filtering out for us. I'm not sure some guy with a huge library in his head is going to help him much. I believe he would tend torwards being autistic. Excuse me if I picked the wrong example for the debilitating aspect.
Also, other then uses for Alzheimer's, this to me seems to much like american ideals. Meaning, it stinks of instant gratification. No work with huge "gains". Even the example used : download kung fu like the matrix : That sounds cool yeah, but are we forgetting that a lot of kung fu is meant to help control the mind and body. It's not all about being able to kick ass. It's about cultivating a sound mind and body relationship. The process is as important as the end result, if not more so.
