They/ve totally butchered Star Trek (TOS).
Any of you remember the episode where the Romulan bird of prey crosses the neutral zone and attacks the federation border outposts? They improved it by making some of the special effects crappier somehow, and in the process deleted one or two scenes essential to the plot.
It almost as bad as saying, "Hey, we can do a remake of The Day The Earth Stood Still, and make it inferior, in all respects, to the 1950 original." Or who was it? Spielberg? Could have made an actual film adaptation of the book (War Of The Worlds), maybe not a huge box office success, but a brilliant period sci-fi film destined to be a classic.
I guess they did first and thought later, very sad.
