The Crazy DIY Spaceflight Project That Just Might Work

Reminds me of the wildly successful Raspberry Pi project.

However, instead of an ultimate goal of aiming to send a human being 60 miles up to the edge of space, I think they should instead set their sights on sending robots to explore the surface of the moon.

Then the public, schools, universities, and corporations could be engaged to participate and basically the whole world could get behind a private, non-profit effort to conduct true public exploration of the moon.
